A field guide, not a technical manual

We document the words, jokes, behaviors and stories that people use to make sense of AI. The focus is cultural meaning: what someone is saying, where a reference comes from, and what gets lost without context.

What belongs here?

A phrase earns its place through a cultural meaning: a shared joke, a recognizable habit, an in-group expression, or a story people keep retelling. A technical definition alone is not enough. Vibe coding belongs because of the attitude and jokes around it, not because we are cataloguing software tools.

A few technical terms are kept as background reading where they help explain a reference. They are labeled separately and do not lead our main dictionary, collections or random discoveries. Emerging expressions stay provisional until their usage and origins can be documented.

Definitions come first

Every entry starts with a short explanation, followed by origins, original usage examples and related words. Examples are written for this dictionary; they are not quotations from real people unless a source is explicitly provided.

Origins are often messy

Internet language rarely has a single inventor. We distinguish documented popularization from a claim about the first use. When we cannot verify an origin or date, we say so. “First seen” is a contextual estimate or an explicit unknown, not a guarantee that nobody used a phrase earlier.

Status labels are editorial

Emerging, Rising, Established, Fading and Historical describe our editorial reading of a term. “Trending now” is a selection of words on our radar, not a live ranking, search-volume report or measured popularity chart. This launch edition contains sample entries, with evolving terms deliberately described cautiously.

A dictionary with room to change

Definitions can shift across communities. A label can be affectionate in one conversation and dismissive in another. We preserve that ambiguity rather than declaring one universal meaning. Entries show an updated date and link to source material where it helps explain a documented claim.
