A friend calls a picture AI slop. Someone posts a monster with a smiley face. A developer says they vibe-coded an app over the weekend. Slangorithm explains these terms so you can follow the conversation without opening a dozen tabs.
What we cover
Our focus is AI internet culture: slang, jokes, habits and the stories people keep referring to. We include a few technical explanations when they help with a reference. Those pages are marked as background reading and kept out of the main browsing list and random picks.
How to read an entry
Start with the short definition. Below it you will find a fuller explanation, an example and some background. We write the examples ourselves and label them accordingly. A real quotation needs a source.
Meaning depends on the conversation. A word can be affectionate in one place and an insult in another. Where that changes how you would use it, we explain the difference.
What we know, and what we don’t
Internet words rarely arrive with a reliable birth certificate. We link to sources for documented claims and say when an origin is uncertain. The "First seen" field is our best guess at roughly when a word showed up — not a claim that it never existed before that.
Status labels are our editorial call, not a live popularity meter. Emerging means we're still not sure how established the usage is. Rising and Established are our read on how widely recognized it's become. Fading and Historical mark uses that have died down or belong to an earlier moment.
Some entries cover uses that are still new enough that we can't say how widely they've spread — you'll see a note on those saying so upfront. Being listed here isn't proof a phrase has caught on; it just means we thought it was worth explaining. Every entry carries an updated date, so you can see when we last touched it.
